Style’s moveable wall BIM tools continue to grow in popularity

Leading moveable wall expert, Style Partitions, is seeing the popularity of its Building Information Modelling (BIM) increase year on year.
Style’s BIM objects on the NBS National BIM Library are accessed via a direct link from the home page of Style’s web site, alongside Style’s NBS specification generators, giving architects vital access to all the key tools for projects involving flexible space.
BIM is a process for creating and managing information on a construction project across its lifecycle. One of the key outputs of this process is the Building Information Model, the digital description of every aspect of the built asset.
In the most recent NBS BIM national report, 60% of those involved in the specification of construction projects said that BIM had brought them cost efficiencies and over half said it sped up delivery. Almost three quarters saw it resulting in operation and maintenance savings.
“When BIM was launched many years ago, Style was the first UK moveable wall specialist to adopt it and we have seen real benefits, and a steady increase in usage, ever since,” said Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director.
“A key advantage is that it provides customers with up-to-date, reliable and precise product data for the planning, construction and management of buildings.
“When you consider that many moveable walls now being specified are fully automatic systems which involve electrics and control boxes, they are far more evolved than the old-fashioned partitioning wall that you would simply pull across to open and close.
“It’s for this reason why it’s so important for architects to use BIM and access product details, technical data, CAD drawings and NBS specifications making the specification process far simpler when BIM is fully utilised.
“It also encourages experimentation with various elements, such as glass or fabric covered panels, or different parking arrangements. BIM tools can also be used to maximise acoustic performance, ensuring each installation is precisely scheduled so that sound flanking can be minimised.
“With modern, high efficiency moveable walls there’s a lot to consider and this impacts the very earliest stages of a project,” continues Julian. “By using BIM, and involving Style’s team of experts, right at the beginning allows an innovative solution to be created that can surpass expectations.”
