Schools adapt to social distancing with flexible space

2020-10-22

The number of moveable walls ordered by schools has seen a dramatic increase due to social distancing.

According to David Louden, director for Style Scotland, the UK’s leading moveable partitioning wall specialist, many schools are choosing moveable walls and folding partitions in order to create social distancing bubbles.

“We are seeing a marked increase in interest from schools,” said David. “In some cases, schools that had already ordered a moveable wall, perhaps to divide the canteen from the main hall, are now ordering more so that classrooms and other teaching areas can be sub-divided too.

“We are also being contacted by many schools who haven’t previously had a moveable wall and are asking for advice regarding their options.

“With a range of choices available, we can offer anything from simple manual folding partitions, through to fully automated systems. These are available in a wide variety of finishes including antimicrobial and magnetic white board - both extremely useful in post pandemic teaching spaces.”

Style has been installing walls in the education sector for over 20 years with extensive expertise – from small village primary schools, large city high schools and through to major projects within the college and university sector.

“Whether it’s a hall or gym with a high ceiling, a stepped lecture theatre or a standard classroom, we have a range of moveable and folding wall solutions that can help – for all requirements and budgets,” said David.

“Our walls offer up to 59dB acoustics, and a range of finishes, so they can not only enable teaching to take place undisturbed either side, but they can be designed to fit in perfectly with the school’s décor.”
