Walsall Arboretum is a Victorian public park located close to the town centre. Set in 73.5 hectares of land a focus of the park is a new Visitor Centre which provides important educational areas for schools, as well as recreational space with café and offices.

Working with architects Brownhill Hayward Brown and main contractor Wilmott Dixon, Style was tasked with enabling the café to be divided into separate areas to accommodate the needs of the local community.

Bringing a welcome level of flexibility to the internal facilities, Style was specified to install two continuously hinged SWG moveable sliding/folding wall systems to the spacious café, allowing smaller rooms to be quickly created for use by schools and other local groups.

Finished in light grey laminate to complement the interior décor, the SWG partitions were fitted with double PVC seals to ensure an excellent level of acoustic integrity between adjacent rooms.

Mike Fine, Style’s director for the Midlands added, “SWG is ideal for café’s, visitor centres, community halls, schools and other public areas as its practical, stylish and very simple to operate.

“Visitor centre staff can respond to changing requirements at a moment’s notice, dividing the space into three separate rooms, opting for a larger room and a small one, or creating a complete ‘open plan’ expansive area. And even when the walls are closed, accessibility between rooms is simple thanks to the integrated pass doors.”
