Advanced training centre
maximises its teaching space
iMET is a new advanced technical training centre providing much needed higher level technical training for the construction, advanced manufacturing, engineering, digital and science sectors.
Located in Alconbury Weald, Cambridgeshire, iMET was looking for a combination of moveable walls to separate its training rooms, allowing staff to quickly alter the space depending on the ever-changing needs on any particular day.
Working with Bond Bryan Architects, and main contractor, Willmott Dixon, Style installed three manually operated DORMA Variflex moveable walls with exceptional, 55dB Rw acoustics.
Two moveable walls combine to sub-divide a large training area into two or three classrooms on the first floor. The third DORMA Variflex wall creates two smaller training rooms located on the other side of the building, which can also be opened up to create one larger area.
All of the walls are finished in a classic polar white coating to complement the interior design of the room.
“Having two acoustic walls in the same room gives iMET the flexibility to host three smaller lessons at the same time, a bigger lesson next to a smaller one, or use the entire space for a larger gathering,” said Mike Fine, Style’s director for the midlands.
“And with such incredible flexibility and acoustic integrity, the rooms can be quickly reconfigured, and lessons can be run concurrently and undisturbed, making this a really effective and adaptable solution.”
Style is the exclusive UK partner to DORMA, with manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic moveable wall solutions to meet all requirements and budgets.
