8 Bishopsgate is a landmark 50-storey tower on the corner of Bishopsgate and Leadenhall Street in London.

Over 10% of the building is dedicated to amenities including the Twenty Six Kitchen, Bar & Terrace, 200-seat Think Tank and Level 50 executive suites, offering spaces to meet, connect and find inspiration.

Working with architect, WilkinsonEyre and contractor, Brown and Carroll, Style was specified to create flexible space on three levels; the concourse, level 2 and at the very top on level 50.

In the concourse, Style installed a glazed sliding folding wall system, level two houses a combination of Dorma Huppe Variflex solid and glazed walls, with semi-automatic operation. On level 50, Style installed a Dorma Huppe Variflex, which is also semi-automatic.

With a 52db acoustic rating on the glazed walls, and a 59db rating on the solid walls, these are very highly rated acoustic moveable walls which offer complete privacy when closed.

On level 2 the solid panels are finished in a perforated timber veneer, and on level 50 a kvadrat steel cut trio fabric was applied.

“The concourse wall enables the operator to open up the space for large functions,” explained Michael Porter, Style’s group sales director, “however when the wall is closed, the area still enjoys ample light thanks to this being a glazed solution.

“Level 2 provides a number of bookable meeting spaces and breakout areas. This is a great solution as it offers a flexible workplace floor, avoiding the costly exercise of installing high end meeting rooms.

“On level 50, we installed a series of walls within the viewing gallery that enables this space to be used as a flexible conference facility with breathtaking views of London.

“We designed the track to allow dual functionality whereby each wall can stack within the room it divides, but the walls can also stack at one end of the floorplate creating one large open space.

“One of the walls is relocated onto a specific track that creates a storage facility for all walls along with additional furniture items.”
