Wellington Place chooses
Style for flexible office space
Wellington Place is an outstanding urban quarter and the business location of choice for Leeds’ leading corporate organisations. With modern, high-specification office space designed to meet the needs of its occupiers, the 22-acre scheme (when fully complete) will comprise a vibrant mixed-use community with around 16,000 people living and working, over 1.9 million sq ft of space, and mixed-use buildings including offices, residential, retail and leisure.
Working with architect, Sheppard Robson, and contractor, Overbury, Style was specified to install two Dorma Huppe semi-automatic Variflex glass moveable walls in the Wellington Place central building to separate its catering facility from the meeting areas.
When closed, the operable walls’ impressive 52dB Rw acoustic integrity offer outstanding privacy for meetings and gatherings. These glass moveable wall systems also maximise the amount of light in the room and give an open plan feel.
A double inset pass door to one wall, and a single inset pass door to the other, enable ease of access. Thanks to their effortless semi-automatic operation the walls can be moved in and out of position quickly and frequently to accommodate different room bookings each day.
“This is the sort of very stylish meeting room solution you’d expect from such a superb and modern development,” said Andy Gibson, Style’s director for the north.
“The space can be configured into private meeting rooms, or opened up for larger gatherings to incorporate the catering area, and one of the moveable walls adjoins an external glazed wall that leads onto a roof garden, making this an extremely pleasurable place for visitors to meet, network and relax.
“Moveable walls for a development of the stature of Wellington Place are an essential ingredient to being able to tailor room space to customer requirements, and we were delighted to have been specified for yet another very high profile project.
“With social distancing measures being at the forefront of everyone’s minds we are likely to see a real increase in businesses looking to imaginatively and creatively divide workspaces and meeting rooms, and we have a range of ready-made solutions to help create adaptable and safe environments."
