Efficient Use of Space
Simple Operation
Moody’s is among the world’s most respected and widely utilised sources for credit ratings, research and risk analysis with highly prestigious offices across the globe.
With the Skyfold operable wall already a huge success at their New York office, choosing a system for their conference centre in Canary Wharf was a simple decision. From an aesthetic, operational and functional perspective there was no better product to meet Moody’s needs.
The beauty of the Skyfold product being that it moves effortlessly and quietly with a simple turnkey operation. And because it is stored in the ceiling cavity, it offers incredibly efficient use of space as no wall pockets are required. Working closely with architects Swanke Hayden Connell, the challenge, however, was in the installation. With extensive steelwork and services in the ceiling, this was a project that had to be planned and managed with true expertise.
In addition, Moody’s requested that in the meeting room adjacent to the main conference area, a horizontal grained timber veneered traditional folding wall was required to complement the quality of their interior styling, and in a seperate training room a fabric finish was preferred.
With semi-automatic being their desired choice, due to its ease and speed of operation, the DORMA Variflex system, with its stylish range of finishes, was specified for both. “We had two principal challenges here. One to carefully install three Skyfolds into a very complex ceiling cavity.
It took a great deal of care and experience to achieve such demanding aesthetic and operational finishes, however the end results were stunning in all areas resulting in the judges of the AIS awarding Style the prestigious ‘Gold’ award for the third consecutive year."
“Moody’s expect the very highest standards of design, quality, installation and finish,” said David Nolan of Swanke Hayden Connell. “The three Skyfolds and the two DORMA Variflex were superbly installed by Style and everyone associated with this project was delighted with the overall outcome.”
