St. Bernadettes Catholic Primary School in Milton Keynes first opened its doors on 19th September 2005 and has become an Oftsted outstanding school.

Working with architect, Richard J Diggle and contractor, Gray & Sons Builders, Style was chosen to install a very unique moveable partitioning wall between the chapel and the new hall; the hall being an extension to the school building offering more space.

A key aspect of the installation was not only to create flexible space, but for the partitioning wall to blend in with the chapel so that its design complemented its overall ambience.

To achieve this, Style installed a DORMA Moveo glass moveable wall, with patterned etchings which included colour, imagery and words. The Moveo Glass system offers outstanding 50dB Rw acoustics, which also meant there was complete privacy between the rooms when the wall was in place. This enabled different school gatherings and activities to take place undisturbed either side, and as the glass is toughened it is also extremely safe.

“It is always our aim to ensure that our partitioning walls complement the interior design of any room,” said Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director. “At St. Bernadettes School, we have a perfect example of where we’ve provided a glazed operable wall enabling natural light to shine through when closed, yet it is styled to suit the chapel’s environment with the stunning patterned etching.”

Style is the UK market leader in moveable partitioning walls, serving a wide range of sectors including education, corporate, religion, hospitality, local authorities and retail.

“It is a reflection of our very broad product range and the superb technical skills of our design and installation teams that we can cater for projects ranging from the London boardrooms of major global corporates on one day, to primary schools and community centres the next,” ended Julian.
