Kent church chooses folding
wall for flexible room space
Christ Church in Sidcup, Kent, is an all-age church that’s strongly rooted in its local community. Like many churches, it hosts a range of religious and community activities each week; the church being at the very heart of village life.
Working with both the client and their architects, Purcell, Style was asked to give the church greater flexibility by being able to divide its community room into two, as and when required.
A Stylefold 120 folding wall was agreed as the best solution, as it is simple and light to open and close and can be used frequently each and every day for various events and gatherings.
With an impressive acoustic rating of 42 dB Rw, and finished in a chic oak melamine, this folding wall is not only a perfect solution for dividing the room space, but is also a stylish addition to the room’s interior design.

“This isn’t the first time that Style has installed a folding wall at Christ Church,” said Style’s group sales director, Michael Porter.
“We previously installed a glazed folding wall adjacent to the same room, which means the church now has the option to open up both the solid and glazed folding wall to create a real open plan area, or choose which combination is needed dependant on the event taking place.
“We’re seeing a lot of demand across a range of sectors for combinations of glass and solid folding and moveable walls as they provide superb room flexibility and a really stylish look.”
John Steed, the honorary project manager for the Christ Church, Sidcup BUILD Project, thanked Style for their hard work commenting, “Over a considerable number of months, your site supervisor and team completed an excellent installation which the Church family are already showing much appreciation.”
The Stylefold 120 folding wall installed by Style is a top hung, centre folding unequal bi-parting wall, with the pass door being positioned to co-ordinate with the main entrance.
Being bi-parting, the church has the option of opening up double doors, which not only provides wider access, but also adds even more flexibility to how the wall is used.
