Across a cluster of three schools in Scotland, Style’s aftercare team provides scheduled servicing and repair of their moveable walls within a 3 year service agreement.

At two of the schools the moveable walls were previously installed by Style, and at the third school is a moveable wall that was in situ prior to Style’s involvement.

During a routine service visit at the third school, Style’s technical team noticed that the pass door within the partitioning wall had dropped slightly and this was causing some issues with its operation.

Whilst it wasn’t completely inhibiting its use, problems such as this impact on the wall’s smooth operation, put pressure on its mechanism and have an adverse effect on its acoustic integrity. If left unresolved they can lead to greater complications further down the line resulting in a bigger and more costly repair or, worse still, the need to replace the entire wall.

Having spotted the issue as part of a detailed audit of all aspects of the wall’s operation, Style’s technicians were able to resolve the issue quickly and efficiently while on site.

“Routine servicing and repair is so important for moveable walls,” said Angela McGowan, Style Scotland’s sales and service manager, “as it enables our aftercare team to quickly spot and resolve any minor problems before they get worse.

“The small gap and slight misalignment of this pass door was picked up immediately during our service visit, and it’s one of those quite minor things that may go completely unnoticed by the school staff who are opening and closing the wall everyday but can result in far greater problems if left unresolved.

“It’s for this reason why we are seeing demand for our servicing contracts growing dramatically with schools, colleges and universities as they rely heavily on flexible space, never more so than with Covid-19 social distancing measures, and through routine service visits they can ensure that their moveable walls continue to serve them for many years.”
