Mirrored moveable walls and the division
Of heavily furnished rooms
Vedanta Resources Limited is a globally diversified natural resources company with interests in zinc-lead-silver, iron ore, steel, copper, aluminium, power, oil and gas.
At its offices in London’s Berkeley Square, Vedanta was looking to create flexible space in its auditorium with the facility for individual meeting rooms and cabins separated by a stylish corridor. This included an area specifically for the chief executive officer, the facility for the smaller meeting rooms/cabins to be combined into larger meeting rooms, and the ability for the whole area to be transformed into one large open plan space.
Also, because each of the individual rooms was going to be filled with furniture and fittings, including desks, chairs, sofas, tables, coffee tables and lamps, it meant the chosen moveable walls would have to squeeze into very tight spaces when opening and closing.
With this in mind, Style worked with contractor Modus Workspace to create a bespoke, refined and modern working area using a combination of operable walls.
A 54dB Rw acoustic moveable wall, running the length of the room, created the corridor - with pass doors into each individual meeting room/cabin. On the outside this had a stunning mirrored finish, and on the inside it was in fabric and oak laminate to match the meeting rooms’ interior design.
Skyfold Zenith moveable walls were then used to create each individual room. Skyfold is the fully automatic, vertically rising wall which is housed discreetly in the ceiling cavity when not in use. The Zenith system, also with impressive 54dB Rw acoustic integrity, has a thin path of travel which means it can descend into the narrowest of gaps at the push of a button, making it ideal for heavily furnished rooms, and a perfect solution for Vedanta.
“Vedanta’s offices are very modern, fresh and chic,” said Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director. “Our moveable wall solution, with fabrics, oak laminate, and a mirrored corridor all combined to add to this stunning design creating a flexible, adaptive space for conferences and meetings.
“With real attention to detail, we even gave the Skyfolds a bespoke grooved corian finish so that when they were not in use the bottom panels formed a seamless continuation of the ceiling. The mirrored corridor also boasted a grooved corian finish too, making this a stunning installation.
“The final configuration turned this area into a real showpiece, and the way in which the Skyfold Zenith descends into such a narrow gap between the furnishings shows the true versatility of our products.”
