AECOM is the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world’s most complex challenges and build legacies for generations to come.

Its new premises in Glasgow, which opened in May 2023, reflect the new employee preference for a more balanced choice when going to the office by offering flexibility and a central, well-connected location.

Working with Aecom and contractor, AKP, Style was specified to create flexibility in the social collaboration spaces using a combination of glass and solid moveable walls.

A Dorma Huppe Variflex glass, semi-automatic moveable wall was installed by Style to create a meeting room within the main breakout area. This has a fully glazed single pass door so that the wall can be left in position for extended periods of time, with ease of access.

A solid Dorma Huppe Variflex moveable wall, also with semi-automatic operation, offers a different solution by creating an additional meeting area near a pool room and relaxation area. With a magnetic writable surface on one side, and black laminate on other, the wall can be used during brainstorming sessions, training and workshops.

With 47dB and 46dB acoustic ratings respectively, meetings can take place without being disturbed from outside noise, and the semi-automatic operation ensures the acoustic seals are applied to the correct pressure each time.

“We were delighted to have been appointed for this very forward-thinking and highly sustainable building,” said Angela McGowan, sales director at Style Scotland.

“The Dorma Huppe moveable walls are EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certified in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN15804, which means they are a perfect fit for this eco-friendly office.”
