At its Business School, the main restaurant is designed to cater for open plan dining, private functions and meetings that involve catering. As a result, the space needs to be flexible to accommodate differing events each day.

Working with Robothams architects, and Speller Metcalfe contactors, Style was specified to deliver a flexible restaurant configuration that could adapt quickly to the Business School’s needs.

A combination of Dorma Varitrans and Dorma Moveo, with an impressive 55dB acoustic rating, was chosen as the best solution – offering ease of use, chic interior design, maximum light and a feel of space thanks to the extensive use of glass.

“Varitrans was ideal for Aston Business School, because it’s a moveable wall system that offers extensive flexibility, enabling it to be adapted to virtually any kind of floor plan,” said Mike Fine, Style’s director for the Midlands.

“It can also accommodate attractive glass designs and by providing integrated pass doors, and combining it with two Dorma Moveo operable walls, both in a classy and clean white laminate finish, created a stunning and hugely practical solution for a restaurant that frequently needs to adapt to its next event in a very short space of time."

Both products hold the Environment Product Declaration (EPD) for ISO 14025 and EN 15804, making their environmental and sustainability credentials second to none.
