With beautiful views and easy access to local attractions, the Blackpool Hilton hotel is popular with holidaymakers, as well as offering a meeting venue for up to 800 people.

Working directly with the hotel, Style was asked to remove the existing moveable wall system and replace it with two semi-automatic DORMA Moveo partitions in the prestigious Queen and Trafalgar suites.

Taking into account the current interior design, Style’s solution not only needed to match the current décor but also the detail in the ceiling, which couldn’t be disturbed.

Opting to take advantage of the old track system, as well as devising a custom stacking arrangement to make the panels easier to bring out into position, Style’s innovative solution resulted in no disturbance whatsoever to any of the building’s existing features, which was quite an achievement.

“We’re extremely proud of our track record of installing moveable walls into rooms with heritage, value or tradition, where features need to be preserved,” said Andy Gibson, Style’s director for the north. “The new semi-automatic DORMA Moveo walls, finished in a traditional wood veneer and with impressive 55dB acoustic integrity, complement the interior design of this room perfectly while modernising the ability to reconfigure the space quickly and effortlessly.”

Glynn Makin facilities manager for the Hilton agrees. “The previous system, which has now been replaced, was 40 years old and the weight of the panels was becoming a health and safety issue due to the physical effort required to move them into place.

“I can’t express how happy we are with the DORMA system and I cannot believe how light the panels are. Now, rather than taking an hour to reconfigure the room, it takes the conference and banqueting team less than 15 minutes.

“Everyone at Style was amazing, from the team in the office to those on site, and everybody understood precisely what we were looking to achieve and couldn’t do enough to help us.”
