The British Motor Museum is home to the world’s largest collection of historic British Cars and boasts nearly 300 cars in its collection which span the classic, vintage and veteran eras.

Its Sky Suite is a stunning new event space on the Museum's top floor with panoramic windows, rooftop balconies and beautiful views of the Warwickshire countryside.

The natural daylight from the multiple skylights and windows, along with the flexible layout, make the Sky Suite perfect for conferences, award ceremonies, dinners and special events.

Working directly with the client, BMI Heritage Trust, Style created the flexible space within the Sky Suite by installing two identical DORMA Variflex, semi-automatic glazed moveable walls.

With toughened glass and 47dB Rw acoustic integrity on each, it enables the British Motor Museum to reconfigure the room quickly and easily depending on the size and nature of each event.

“There was a real desire for flexibility, light, a feel of space and a sense of panache with this installation,” said Mike Fine, Style’s director for the Midlands.

“This is a real showcase area for The British Motor Museum, and it was important to choose the best moveable wall solution to complement the interior design as well as create flexible space.

“The Dorma Variflex is a superb glazed, acoustic moveable wall and the client was delighted with the quality of the acoustic separation, as they can run concurrent events, undisturbed while retaining that open and airy feel thanks to the glass.

“The semi-automatic operation is also an added advantage as it means, once the wall is in place, the seals move into position at the push of a button ensuring the correct pressure every time for optimum acoustic integrity.

“The final solution means the museum can maximise its revenue from hosting a wide range of events, by either using the entire 360 square metre floor space for large gatherings or dividing it up into several, separate rooms for smaller events.”

Style is the exclusive UK partner to Dorma, Skyfold and SWG, enabling architects, specifiers, contractors and end-user clients to benefit from an extensive portfolio of manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic solid and glazed moveable walls for any requirement or budget.
