Working with contractors Fileturn, Style was specified to create flexible space inside the boardroom, with particular attention to the aesthetics and interior design. The Waldorf Hilton is a beautifully appointed building both inside and out, and any moveable partitioning wall solution would have to complement, if not enhance, the panache and style of the hotel.

With almost endless options for finishes, DORMA Variflex was chosen as the best system and a wooden veneer finish was selected to match the other walls, including an ebony inlay which created a panelled effect – much to the delight of the client.

Variflex is an excellent acoustic moveable wall,” said Julian Sargent, Style’s managing director, “because it can be fitted in rooms with ceilings of up to 14.5m. It also offers sound reductions up to Rw60 dB and a 30 minute fire rating."

“Better still, the panels are provided separately to the frames which means finishes can be more easily added to the panels, prior to fitting. This also has advantages if the room’s decor changes at a later date because you do not need to install a completely new partitioning wall system."

“All you need to do is remove the panels, leaving the wall intact, and replace them with new ones with a different finish. This also has benefits if a panel is damaged or scuffed because you can simply replace that single panel. It really is extremely versatile.”
